New C102 and C182 conical series address needs of global electronic design community

New Surface Mount and Flying Lead Configurations Enhance Utility

Gowanda, NY (USA) – Gowanda Electronics a designer and manufacturer of precision electronic components for broadband radio frequency and power applications, announces an expansion of its broadband conical product line. The new broadband microwave RF conical inductors – C102 & C182 – are available in Surface Mount (SM) and Flying Lead (FL) configurations to enhance utility in the electronics design community.

Gowanda’s new series were developed to address market needs and industry trends calling for ever-increasing performance from broadband conical components. They are designed for use in communication applications for bias T’s (filter signals, remove noise), broadband chip manufacturing, communication platforms, high frequency, microwave circuitry, RF test set-ups, test & measurement, test gear, test instrumentation and transmission amplifiers.

The performance ranges provided by these new wirewound conical series – C102FL, C102SM, C182FL and C182SM – include inductance from 0.47 µH to 10.7 µH, DCR ohms from 0.19 to 7.10 and current rating mA DC from 150 to 815. Series-specific data ranges are provided in the table below. A Conical Data Summary provides technical data for all the series in one pdf. All four series have been outgassing tested per ASTM E595 and meet the TML requirement of 1.0% max. Operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C for all series. As with Gowanda’s previously introduced conicals – including the company’s High Current Conicals with Current Ratings up to 10 Amps introduced earlier this year – these new series offer excellent robust construction to assure predictable frequency response and repeatable RF performance. The unique broadband response of the coil is attributed to its precision winding, wire selection and coil configuration.

Gowanda Expands Magnetics Offerings with Acquisition of HiSonic

High Performance Surface Mount RF Inductors to be Featured at IMS

These series deliver nearly 2X or more improvement in SRF and Current Rating compared to traditional designs.

The CC4H (ceramic core) and CF4H (ferrite core) series are each available in 3 physical sizes. The performance ranges include inductance from 0.0082 µH to 1000 µH, Q min from 30 to 75, SRF MHz min from 2 to 4000, DCR ohms max from 0.060 to 30 and Current Rating mA DC from 96 to 2430. These series respond to the market need for ever-increasing component performance for RF applications in commercial, medical and military markets.

Shielded Surface Mount RF Inductors with Higher Inductance

Gowanda expanded its SML32S “1210” Shielded Series raising the upper level of inductance to 470 uH and increasing the number of parts by 20%.

The performance range provided by the expanded SML32S series includes inductance from 0.1 uH to 470 uH, DCR ohms max from 0.15 to 25 and current rating mA DC from 91 to 1175. This series expansion responds to the market need for higher inductance shielded inductors for RF applications in commercial, medical and military communities. That includes use in communication, guidance, security, radar and test & evaluation.

First in Industry – RF Surface Mount Inductors with Established Reliability

Gowanda’s ER5025S provides MIL-PRF-39010 qualified inductors in surface mount configuration for military and other high reliability RF applications.

This series complements MIL-PRF-39010 QPL axial-leaded (thru-hole) products and enables their conversion to SMT circuitry via this new MIL-PRF-39010 qualified SMT series. ER5025S meets QPL’s ER requirements to failure rate level M (for /17 and /18). The performance ranges provided by this series include inductance from 0.10 to 10,000 µH, Q min from 40 to 60, SRF MHz min from 1.0 to 450, DCR Ohms max from 0.025 to 139, and current rating mA DC from 30 to 2245.
