5 March 2014, Gowanda, NY (USA) – Gowanda is teaming up with its recently acquired sister company, TTE, Inc., to provide a broader range of electronic components to the global design engineering community.  TTE, Inc. designs and manufactures RF and microwave filters for critical markets including defense and test & measurement.

Products from both companies will be on display at the IEEE 2014 International Microwave Symposium Exhibit in Tampa Bay, Florida, June 3-5, 2014.  Visit Booth #441 at IMS2014 for more information.

TTE’s line of RF and microwave filters complements Gowanda’s microwave, RF and power inductors.  We sell our products to many of the same customers and applications, so we will now be able to offer a more complete solution to the marketplace,” said Don McElheny, Gowanda Electronics CEO.

TTE has been manufacturing electronic components since 1956.  Initially offering LC filters in the range of 5 Hz to 100 kHz, the company’s current-generation RF and microwave filters are available for any frequency from 0.1 Hz to 26 GHz, and to 40 GHz in some instances.

Like Gowanda, TTE has a long, reputable history of designing and manufacturing high-performance, high-reliability, custom OEM products.  We look forward to leveraging our combined capabilities and expertise to enhance our position and success in addressing customer challenges in the global electronics community,” commented Steve Sodaro, TTE President.

Gowanda Holdings, LLC, a member of Addison Capital Partner’s portfoloio and the parent company of Gowanda Electronics, acquired TTE, Inc. earlier this year.  Refer to Addison Captial’s announcement dated January 9, 2014:

Operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C for MS75083; -55°C to +105°C for MS75084 and MS75085.

MLRF15M is approved for MIL-PRF-15305 Military Part Numbers MS18130 (Phenolic core), MS14046 (Iron core), and MS90538 (Iron core). Performance includes: Inductance from 0.15 to 240 µH; Q Min from 33 to 75; SRF MHz Min from 5.9 to 525; DCR Ohms Max from 0.03 to 7.80 and Current Rating DC mA from 101 to 2450. Operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C for MS18130; -55°C to +105°C for MS14046 and MS90538.

MLRF18M is approved for MIL-PRF-15305 Military Part Numbers MS75008 (Phenolic core) and MS75101 (Iron core). Performance includes: Inductance from 0.15 to 27 µH; Q Min from 30 to 65; SRF MHz Min from 22 to 510; DCR Ohms Max from 0.03 to 2.75 and Current Rating DC mA from 205 to 3000. Operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C for MS75008; -55°C to +105°C for MS75101.

MLRF17S is approved for MIL-PRF-15305 Military Part Numbers MS75087 (Phenolic core/Iron shield), MS75088 (Iron core/Iron shield) and MS75089 (Ferrite core/Ferrite shield). Performance includes: Inductance from 0.10 to 1000 µH; Q Min from 40 to 60; SRF MHz Min from 3.8 to 250; DCR Ohms Max from 0.025 to 17.5 and Current Rating DC mA from 70 to 1790. Operating temperature range is -55°C to +105°C for the series.

Smallest Non-Magnetic Inductor Introduced by Gowanda Electronics

SMG1812 Ideal for Medical Imaging and Other Magnetic-Sensitive Applications

For Product Information please use the links below.
For Downloadable News Release PDF and JPG Photo Options: refer to “Downloads Available” below.

6 May 2012, Gowanda, NY (USA) – Gowanda Electronics announces the introduction of the world’s smallest non-magnetic molded RF inductor series, SMG1812.  This new surface mount wirewound series will be featured at MD&M-East, a medical device industry conference and trade show being held June 18-20, 2013 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philidelphia, PA. Visit Gowanda Electronics at booth #2836.

The dimensions of the new SMG1812 are 4.8  mm (length) x 3.4 mm (width) x 3.5 mm (height).  The overall size is more than 40% smaller than Gowanda’s SMG3013 series (the industry’s smallest non-magnetic molded RF inductor series until now).  Gowanda’s development of smaller inductor designs is in response to the ongoing market trend for smaller devices and therefore smaller components.

Inductors (in their role as filters) block certain frequencies that otherwise would compromise the performance of equipment or devices.  Gowanda’s SMG1812 was designed specifically for applications that are magnetically sensitive and therefore require non-magnetic components.  Relevant applications include test equipment & devices and medical diagnostic equipment – specifically imaging equipment such as MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and particular types of X-ray equipment.

Technical specifications of the SMG1812 series include Inductance from 0.010 to 0.082 μH, Q min from 35 to 40, SRF Min from 750 to 1000 MHz, DCR Max from 0.1 to 0.25 Ohms, and Current Rating DC from 700 to 1230 mA.  A RoHS-compliant (“lead-free”) version is available and is denoted SMG1812LF.

It is anticipated that this new series from Gowanda will be used not only in the medical industry but also in a wide variety of market applications and industries where magnetic materials and magnetic characteristics must be avoided.  These other applications could include use in telecommunications, security systems, instrumentation, laboratory analysis equipment, aviation equipment, navigation equipment and electronic test equipment.

The new SMG1812 series expands Gowanda’s non-magnetic “MG” inductor product line.  Inductors manufactured using traditional methods can exhibit magnetic characteristics that are undesireable in certain applications.  Gowanda’s SMG1812 components (and the other series in the MG product line) are manufactured using a proprietary company-developed methodology that assures the inductors have non-magnetic characteristics.

Other members of Gowanda’s RF inductor “MG” product line include additional surface mount versions and through-hole leaded designs.  Technical specifications for those products include: Inductance options from 0.01 to 4.7 μH, DCR Max from 0.08 to 2.6 Ohms, and Current Ratings DC from 260 to 3835 mA. RoHS-compliant versions are also available.  Surface Mount Designs: SMG3013, SMG5025; Thru-Hole Designs: 10MG, 15MG.
